Hosted by the Government of Indonesia, organised and convened by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the seventh session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2022) will review progress on the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
At GP2022, governments, the UN system and all stakeholders get together to share knowledge and discuss the latest developments and trends in reducing disaster risk, identify gaps and make recommendations to further accelerate the implementation of the Sendai Framework.
The GP2022 takes place at a critical time: seven years from the adoption of the Sendai Framework and just over two years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has exposed how underlying vulnerabilities and inequities have catastrophic consequences for the most exposed across the world. The pandemic has demonstrated just how essential prevention and the risk reduction agenda is if we are to achieve a sustainable future for all.
GP2022 offers a chance for all stakeholders to recommit, with urgency, to accelerate progress on disaster risk reduction towards the achievement of sustainable development. The GP2022 will be conducted in all six official UN languages.
